HOLD IT TURN AROUND I THINK WE FORGOT SOMEONE
Geezus we got halfway to Utah when I realized the we had forgotten our newest arrival behind in California. Oh did I get shit! How could you? Are you serious? And all sorts of nurturing words were rained down on me. Ange had entered the world in September of 1985, while we were still in California, getting ready to move to Utah. I have a legitimate reason for my mixup of places. Her mom had travelled to Edmonton to be with her family for the birth. I was in the middle of getting ready to move and had to stay in California. My mind was set on Ange being brought straight to Utah, that is why I was in such a hurry to get there and get her part of the story told. She entered this world a very healthy and happy baby. We were all so happy to meet her. Within a very short time she was bonded to her big sister and was starting to carve out her niche in the family. What a beauty. She had big round cheeks that just screamed out for a good pinching.
She instantly viewed her big sister (Ron) as a superhero or some kind of god like figure. She followed her around with her eyes from the very outset. Her sister thought she was wonderful and it was so great to have a doll to play with that really moved around. Almost immediately her sister started teaching her the ways of the world and basically “who was who in the zoo”. Ange in her own right absorbed these teachings like I sponge and before long I had three major attitudes to deal with instead of two, and one cute one. The concept of having a male slave at her beck and call sat very well with her (I knew all along that I was number 4 in this zoo). Deysi was a doting mom, seemed to be content with her life, and was so happy she had another buddy at home now that Ron was in school full-time. Geezus I was worried that we had just brought another shopper into the family. As it was I could barely afford the two I already had!
We had fulfilled Deysi’s dreams of her family. She always wanted two children. And two girls suited her well. These girls spent the next 20+ years following my ass all over this world. Never a complaint and always excited to have a new adventure. From the outset Ange developed her personality. She was not as aggressive as her big sister, but still had a very strong personality. If she wanted or needed anything she always got it. Very early on her big sister confided in us that in her opinion we were spoiling Ange far too much. Based on all 6 years of her experience, she felt that we needed to be a little tougher on Ange, than we were at present. Geezus I thought poor old Cinderella has had it hard and just wanted to make sure her little sister wasn’t subjected to the same treatment. She also suggested after a few months when Ange started to cut into her time under the spotlight, that maybe we could return her now. Now these little jabs were not all one sided.
As I said earlier Ange was learning her lessons well and could come up with some beauts! about three years after this she came up with my favorite “one liner” of all time. It went like this; we were riding along in the car off on a little trip in Utah. Ron had gone on a school trip and had been away for about a week. Ange is riding along looking out the window when all of a sudden she gets a nostalgic look on her face and says “Mommy do you remember that little girl that used to stay with us……………” I almost wet my diaper! She was sharp and always gave as good as she got. With that we’ll throw her in the car and we’re off to Utah once again.

Yaaaaay, I’m finally here!
Couldn’t mom have popped me out in California so I could have dual citizenship? SO CLOSE!
jeheald
Looking back it could have happened. It was a choice your mom made. She wanted you to be Canadian. At that time there was no dual citizenship and it seemed like it would be harder to travel.
