ANOTHER TRIP FROM OUR BASE IN UTAH – THIS TIME THE GRAND CANYON
I cannot leave our time in Utah without first taking you on a little visual tour of the Grand Canyon. We made this trip twice. Once with the family and once with Deysi’s father and step mother. Deysi and I loved it, the girl’s not so much. However since they were not yet emancipated, they did not get a vote. If they had any say in our tours around Utah, we would not have gotten to see much at all. this trip was early early spring 1988 and you can still see evidence of snow in the higher elevations.
As I was finishing this Deysi reminded me that Ron broke out with the chicken pox just after we returned home from the Grand Canyon. She was really sick and was probably sick during our trip, which may account for her not being in the greatest of moods. Ange contacted the chicken pox shortly afterward but did not suffer the same effects as Ron. She was younger and it didn’t seem like it bothered her as much. Again this was one of my favorite times (except for the Chicken Pox part). Deysi and I had looked forward to a visit to the Grand Canyon ever since first moving to the USA. Now was our chance. Enjoy.
WELL ONE PICTURE DESCRIBES THEIR DELIGHT AT BEING ON ANOTHER SIGHTSEEING TRIP WITH MOM AND DAD IN CASE THAT FIRST ONE DIDN’T DO IT, HAVE ANOTHER LOOK. WOULD HAVE LOVED TO GO FOR A RIDE ON THIS BUT I THINK IT WAS STILL CLOSED TO TOURISTS AT THIS POINT THE LODGE AT THE CANYON, YOUR WINDOW LOOKS INTO THE ABYSS HEAVY TRAFFIC NEAR THE LODGE DEER EVERYWHERE AND NARY A GUN IN SIGHT WE CAME FROM THE NORTH AND HAD TO MAKE A BIG CIRCLE AROUND BECAUSE OF CLOSED ROADS DEYSI LOOKING OVER HER TOES AND SHOOTING INTO THE CANYON. I KNOW IT WAS HER, BECAUSE I WAS NOT GETTING THAT CLOSE. SPRING, SNOW AND BEAUTY THIS IS WHAT YOU FACE IF YOU EVEN FALL 1/4 OF THE WAY DOWN. I’M NOT SURE HOW SHE GOT THAT ONE. IT IS QUITE A SIGHT, HOWEVER THE COLCA CANYON IN PERU WHERE WE WORKED WAS TWICE AS DEEP. THE COLORADO RIVER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CANYON. HOW MUCH FUN DOES ONE MAN DESERVE? THIS IS SPECTACULAR EVEN WITH THE MODEST EQUIPMENT WE HAD AND 32 YEARS OF DETERIORATION DEYSI GOT SOME GREAT SHOTS NOT GETTING MUCH HAPPIER AS THE DAY GOES ON SHE WAS NOT HAPPY WITH ME OR MY TRIP, BUT I GAVE HER A HUG ANYWAY. THIS AFTER A SCAN FROM A PAPER PHOTO, AND REPRODUCTION TO A DIGITAL PHOTO PROGRAM ITS STILL GOOD IF I COULD HAVE RODE THAT TRAIN WE WOULD HAVE CROSSED THIS BADBOY SPRING 1988, Grand Canyon ARIZONA DEYSI HELPING ME GET THE RIGHT SHOT. I THINK SHE WAS WHISPERING TO ME THAT THE GIRLS HAD REACHED THEIR LIMIT COULDN’T RESIST A LAST PHOTO LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE FELL IN, OR JUMPED AFTER ANOTHER ONE OF MY TOURS THEY ARE A LITTLE HAPPIER I TOLD THEM WE COULD GO TO THE HOTEL AND POOL NOW. ONE LAST ONE. A COUPLE OF FEET MORE TAPE.

Looks awesome! I’ve been dying to go back and do some hiking. I really want to see Antelope Canyon. Beautiful pics dad.
