RAMBLINGS

OGDEN UTAH 1986 AND NOW THE VISITORS ARRIVE

It has been a while since I let my mind wander around a time and place, searching out thoughts. I find that I need to control my rambling in case my mind rambles away and does not return. However I think it is now time to think a little about the family and friends that we had visit us while we were in Utah. For some of the family, we had essentially been gone since 1983 when we departed for Japan. Not everyone had occasion to see us in the brief time between our return from Japan and move to California.

So when we moved to Utah we were as close to home in Alberta as we would get for the next 10 years. It was exciting to see everyone. The girls had a chance to bond, a bit, with family. One visit we did miss was my Mom and Dad, who after their eventful time in California, were not leaving their house again. Dad was not up for another side saddle ride on a stretcher, although he must have cut a fine figure sitting up on the stretcher with his cowboy hat on and riding that badboy thru the mall.

We did get a chance to see, Deysi’s dad and step mom, her sister and brother in law, my younger sister, my nieces and brother in law, Deysi’s next younger sister, my children D1, D2, D3. They will be so named in order of birth and they all have names starting with a “D”.

Deysi’s Dad and Step Mom who came to stay and tour Utah, Arizona, and Nevada with us. My father in law was a “piece of work” and made me laugh.

Deysi’s next youngest sister with husband. They came to see us in many places during our travels. Lil Bubba stayed with us from the time of our marriage.

My baby sister and her girls came for a visit this was a special time. Here it looks like my niece M1, was trying to disguise Ange as an Arab. M2 looks healthy and ready for action with her cuz.

My brother in law Wild Bill. At this time I think he was off to a biker rally in California and my sis met him here to pass on further instructions lest he forgot those she gave in in Alberta a few days before.

Deysi and her sister Lupe in Salt Lake City. So nice to have her come stay with us. She was now almost a grown woman and not the teenage girl who we left behind in Peru after our last visit. She was soon to become a Canadian and studying in school. She and most of the rest of the clan now resided in Edmonton.

Eldest son, now 16 years old and down for a vacation we took him to California which is the subject of a later story. He was growing up and already a head taller than Deysi. But not near as tough or as mean hehehe.

This is D2 my youngest son. He had accompanied his sister down to see us. One day we packed them in the car and headed for Disneyland. Story later.

My oldest daughter D3, finally deemed old enough to come visit us on a summer holiday. We had a lot of fun. Deysi had something for them to do each day. On this visit we made a side trip to see Disneyland. My daughter was accompanied by her brother on this trip. We had made a drive to Alberta to pick them up. I don’t know how we managed but we had 6 in the car coming home.
