SURFER KID AND RIDE THE WILD TUBE, OGDEN UTAH

We had my second son for a visit to Ogden, Utah in the summer of 1986. On one sunny afternoon, a colleague from work invited us to go boating at nearby Pine View Reservoir. So armed with a picnic lunch, off we went. D2 (my second son, initial D) was a teenager at this point about 13 years old, full of confidence and a little cocky. Haha just what we needed for the boat ride, fresh meat! My friend had a large tube designed to be pulled behind the boat. “Who is gonna ride it” says he. D2 is popping up and down “let me’, “let me”, ‘I can do it” and other such hype. So we let him. Into the water, onto the tube, a thumbs up and away we go. I might say ol’ D2 stuck to that tube like a burr in your sock. We went left, we went right, but there he is hanging on and daring us to go faster. Deysi was spotting and I was on the camera trying to get some footage of this epic ride. I’m going to post a small piece of his wild ride. My memory of this is that I had a little ride also. One loop and I felt like my arms were falling off. I almost had to call Deysi to help me into the boat (not likely, I would have drowned first before I was asking for help). He rode this thing for about 30 minutes straight and would have rode more if we let him!
