THEY LEAVE JIMBORED BEHIND AND INVADE HOLLAND – 2011
I suppose you may have determined from the title, that this story will not be about JimboRed. Rather it is about a time when the girls took a break from me and ventured off to Europe. They left me and my baggage and all my unwanted opinions behind. So I really can’t call this my story. Rather it is my recollection of what, I think, they told me about their adventure. I don’t remember anyone inviting me along. However, even if I was invited; in the end, they were ok with me making excuses about travel, old age and weariness. It is going to be more of a collection of their photos from the trip. The travelers will have to add any further details. I am writing it to ensure that we do not forget, or overlook, this time of our life in the grand scheme of our travels.

And It all took place in the early summer of 2011. Ron was, at this time, working for a financial group from the US, who had international ties. Ange was on a sabbatical from University. She had taken time off to see and renew acquaintances with her high school friends from Scotland. She had found work in Edinburgh and was enjoying her own adventure. Ron was asked to work on assignment in Holland. She accepted, then called Ange and her mom to see if they wanted to meet her there. They said that they called me. However, I just can’t seem to remember it. Anyway they agree that a meet up in Holland would be wonderful. Deysi was over the moon!

She was bouncing off the walls. Seldom had I ever seen her so excited. Talk about your dreams come true! I think this was more than she had ever hoped for. A whole week together with both of her girls. She pretended to be sad that Ol’ JimboRed would not be around. I’m sure she was NOT going to miss the 24/7 babysitting and nurturing. And I was quite happy not to go. But it sure would have been nice to see some sincerity in their sadness. Well the momentous day arrives. And Deysi, accompanied by her passport and credit cards, departs into the sunrise, headed for Europe. I felt gutted. I never felt so alone in my life. What am I gonna do to relieve the sadness? A little golf perhaps, maybe some fishing, a game of poker, a beer with D2 in the backyard. My options seemed scant.

So, on or about June 3, 2011, Deysi and the girls meet in Holland. I believe Ron was working in a city outside of Amsterdam, called Amerstfoort. One thing you gotta know about Europe, is, you can get anywhere, from anywhere, at any time, using rail links. It is very convenient. You could live your whole life there, without a car and travel more than most people ever will. The girls meet. Needless to say, the credit cards were in for some major abuse. It looked more like a meeting of rabid shoppers, than a cultural tour. For the next week, they looked at all the sights, shopped “a little”, ate all the foods, and sampled many of the beverages. Basically they snooped around trying to figure out what the Dutch were all about.

About all they told me of their trip was that they all missed me desperately. So, to finish the record of this adventure, I will post some photos. Each one of them had a camera. And from the hundreds of photos they shared with me, it seemed, their cameras were not still for long periods. I have used a mixture of photos from all three of them, to provide a perspective from each viewpoint. When I go thru their photos, I find it incredible that their images are so professional. It makes those that I snapped away at, over the years, look pretty sad. Anyway, I will tag on a slideshow and just let it roll. Enjoy. Mainly, the photos were taken in three different places, Amerstfoort, Amsterdam, and Volendam.
That is all I have on this subject. Any detail will need to be provided by the travelers themselves. One last word; I still don’t think they invited me.

C; I think they had a great time. Now I have resurrected these photos, maybe one of them will tell us a little more about the trip. Thanks for reading, best regards.

LOOOOOVE IT!!!
Thanks so much for the slideshow. Without pictures I think my terrible memory would make it hopeless to relive these adventures. Sorry we didn’t invite you but sometimes “girls just gotta have fun”!

Finally one of you admits that I was left behind. Your mom, says “no, no you were invited. It’s just your fading mind that keeps you from remembering”. I knew it, I just had a hollow feeling inside of me, when I looked at your photos! JimboRed

Dad, the first step to healing is acceptance. The second step is bribing us with snacks so we invite you next time. Choose wisely!!

Thanks for reading Deysi. I am glad you liked it. Ange has already confessed, that I was excluded. I did have a couple of small golf and poker parties, however, what else could I do? I was dying of lonesomeness. JimboRed

Lalitas; I’m so happy that you like my video of the girl’s trip. I was so hurt when they didn’t ask me to go, that my only solace was a little fishing, golf and poker. Poor ol’ JimboRed!
