Well our two week vacation was coming to a close and it was time to get back to work in Johannesburg. The timing was fall 1989 and we had been in South Africa for about one year. Leaving the Seychelles was difficult because we had such a fun break. It was truly one of our best holidays ever (and we had some grand holidays). I have spent more time on the Seychelles story than on our time in Mauritius and I think that is because it took me 4 or 5 days to relax and let myself, as well as everyone around me, have some fun. I was wound up so tight that I guess I thought I was normal, but was probably close to being a “nutter”.
Apparently, I was at the girls, constantly, to make sure they were the most well behaved kids, wherever we went. Looking back I can kind of see how, I might have been making everyone a little crazy. Thank god for Ol’ Bubbaloo, she kept us on an even keel. If ever I got to far out of line, she would aim a kick right at the old balsack and quickly get me refocused. Maybe I needed it, however I have also considered that maybe I was the sane one and the rest were deranged. What say you? Anyway I am going to end our trip to the Seychelles with a photo slide show, that I hope rounds out the pieces that I haven’t described in the last few posts, and perhaps leaves each with a feel of the mood of this paradise. Enjoy.
RIGHT ON THE BEACH. MY GOD SHE FIT RIGHT IN. MAGAZINE, LOUNGE CHAIR, HER PILLOW AND A FEW BONBONS.
A FEW MINUTES DOWN THE BEACH FROM US, I TOOK THIS WHEN RON AND I WERE ON OUR WAY BACK FROM FISHING
YES OF COURSE THEIR WAS GOLF. THIS ABOUT 15 MINUTES FROM THE HOTEL. I ONLY EVER SEEN TWO OR THREE OTHERS PLAY IT WHILE I WAS THERE.
THE POOL AT THE HOTEL, WE SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF OUR TIME THERE
HERE I’M IN A RACE WITH RON. SHE HAD BEEN WORKING OUT WITH THE SWIM CLUB AT SCHOOL AND WAS HARD TO BEAT
RON SHOWING ANGE HOW TO SWIM. THEY PLAYED ALL DAY UNTIL THEY WERE EXHAUSTED AND THEN FELL INTO THEIR BEDS
LOOK AT THE SMILE, YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW THAT RON JUST FINISHED DOING SOMETHING TO HER SIS
THE OLD BACK STROKE. BY THIS TIME ANGE WAS ALSO LIKE A FISH
THIS WAS A RESTAURANT AND SOUVENIR PLACE ON AN ISLAND ABOUT 300 METERS OFFSHORE. YOU GOT THERE BY BOAT
SHE WAS WORKING OUT, TANNING, GROWING AND HAD THE MOST LOVELY SMILE EVER.
THIS ONE GREW MORE BEAUTIFUL BY THE DAY. SHE WAS ALSO VERY SMART AND YOU HAD TO DIG DEEP TO GET ANYTHING PAST HER.
ALONG THE COAST ON THE WEST SIDE OF MAHE’ ISLAND IN THE SEYCHELLES
A LITTLE PASSAGEWAY OUT TOWARDS ONE OF THE OTHER ISLANDS OFF THE NORTH END OF MAHE’
IN THE SEYCHELLES NO ONE WAS ALLOWED TO OWN THE BEACH. LOCALS HAD 100% RIGHT OF ACCESS, BE THAT THRU THE HOTEL LOBBY OR YOUR FRONT YARD.
IF YOU TURNED AWAY FROM THE OCEAN AND LOOKED INLAND, THERE WERE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL JUNGLE SCENES, THE VOLCANIC DOMES WERE EXQUISITE
LOOKING DOWN THE BEACH AWAY FROM OUR HOTEL. WE CAME TO PLAY ON THIS BEACH OFTEN. THERE WAS NO ONE HERE.
I HAD LOST THE WHITE SOCKS AND SHORT SHORTS AND CAMERA, I MUST HAVE BEEN FEELING ILL
A GROUP OF LOCALS. DURING OUR TIME HERE WE ENCOUNTERED VERY FEW LOCALS ON THE BEACH. THEY MUST HAVE HAD A SPECIAL PLACE TO GO.
VIEW OF A COUPLE OF FISHERMEN PLYING THEIR TRADE. THE FISH THEY CAUGHT WERE EITHER EATEN BY THEIR FAMILIES OR SOLD TO THE HOTELS
OK I GOT THIS, LET’S SEE SAIL OUT OF WATER, UP STRAIGHT FOR A HALF SECOND, FLOP OVER THE OTHER SIDE, START AGAIN.
A BREAKER CRASHING OVER THE ROCKS. NOT A COMMON SIGHT DUE TO THE REEF THAT SURROUNDED 99% OF THE ISLAND, ON THIS SIDE.
LOCAL FISHERMEN FISHING JUST OFFSHORE AND SEEMING TO CATCH WHATEVER THEY NEEDED FOR THAT DAY’S MEALS
LOOKING DOWN ON THE OCEAN FROM OUR FAVORITE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT, WE WERE UP IN THE JUNGLE LOOKING OUT ON THE WATER.
THE OWNER AND FISHERMAN FROM OUR FAVORITE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT. OUT WITH HIS HELPER CATCHING FOOD FOR THE DAYS’ MENU
THE POOL DECK LOOKING AWAY FROM THE HOTEL AND AT THE BEACH. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL
THIS IS A PHOTO THAT WE TOOK FROM THE PASS THAT CUT ACROSS THE ISLAND FROM WEST TO EAST AND ENDED IN VICTORIA.
I WILL NEVER GET TIRED OF THESE PICTURES OF PRISTINE BEACHES AND CLEAR WATERS. 99% OF THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN BY DEYSI
THE LOCAL FISHING BOATS ANCHORED IN A LAGOON WAITING FOR THE ‘MORROW
THE WHOLE ISLAND LOOKED LIKE THIS, IT WAS INCREDIBLE. SIGH, IT WAS HARD TO LEAVE.
